Trailer: The Crazies; Remake and Original

Trailer: The Crazies; Remake and Original

On Feb 26th, the George A. Romero classic The Crazies is getting a remake.  I didn’t know if fans were aware of the original so I wanted to at least compare the two trailers.  Like I said the original was directed by horror God George A. Romero, in 1973 for about $275,000.  Here is the original trailer:

For those unaware of the style of Romero’s film, he always has some sort of social commentary as an underline meaning to his films.  Sometimes it works like in Dawn of the Dead, other times it completely falls flat…Diary of the Dead, anyone?  Honestly, I can’t say too much about the film because I have not seen it but when we review the remake on the podcast, we promise to see the original and review it first.  2 for 1 episode, we’re welcome.

Now lets look at the remakes trailer.  Directed by Breck Eisner, coming to theaters on Feb 26th.  Rumored budget is around $20 million.

It’s apparent to me that the remake has a much more gritty, grim view on the outbreak and its impact on the town.  Just from comparing the trailers, the remake looks much better than the original.  Of course, I could be wrong but like I said look for our review coming at the end of February.
