Well, I have to say it. I was wrong. Channing Tatum was able to knock James Cameron’s Avatar out of the number one spot. I thought Avatar would last one more week in the top spot. This just goes to show you that even the Na’vi have a weakness; young girls hormones. “What’s that honey? Yes, let me get my wallet.” Sorry guys, I’ll be back in a while. I have to take my fiancee to see Dear John.
2) Avatar $23.6M
The Sci-fi epic is still making a good amount of money for being in its eighth week. There is really nothing left to say about this film that hasn’t already been said. If you are one of the few people who still have not seen this film; do yourself a favor and go see it in 3D while you still can!
3) From Paris With Love $8.1M
Can you say disappointment. Well I can, but I said it from the beginning. First off, there is the stupid title. That right there is enough to drop profit exponentially. To be honest, I wasn’t a fan of the trailer either. With next weeks competition From Paris With Love should be considered D.O.A.
4) Edge of Darkness $7.0M
Well at least I was right about one thing. Edge of Darkness is going no where but down.
5) The Tooth Fairy $6.5M
Again, no other family films out in theaters allow this film to take a spot in the top five. This should change next week win Percy Jackson hits the big screen.
This concludes this weeks weekend box office round up. Next week will be the first truly interesting movie weekend. Three high profile movies are hitting the big screen. Percy Jackson, The Wolfman, and Valentines Day. Who will be number one next week? I truly do not know. Now that Avatar has been dethroned, it is up in the air. I will go ahead and throw out a guess. Lets see if I can redeem myself. My pick is The Wolf..Valen…Percy Jackson. That’s it! I’m going with the son of Poseidon.
